What kind of goals
will my child have?


Goals will be chosen for your child based on an assessment of his or hers current functioning level and needs. Goals will also be developed that are most important to the family (i.e., selective eating, tantrums, etc.). Some areas that are often addressed in goals include, daily living skills, communication skills, social skills, community and group skills, academic skills. 

 

How often will my
child need ABA?

 

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) focuses on increasing socially important and functional skills while decreasing behaviors that interfere with learning, social interactions, or those that may pose a safety risk. Behavior change is accomplished by making changes to a client’s environment, taking data, and analyzing the results.

 

What is a BCBA/LBA?
 

These are formal titles provided to a Behavior Analyst by national and state certifying agencies. A BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) is a supervisory-level ABA clinician who has been certified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), which is the national certifying agency for ABA. LBA (Licensed Behavior Analyst), is a clinician that is licensed to practice ABA in the state of New York.
